Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program

Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program

CSArts-SGV must raise more than $2 million each year – $3,200 for middle school students and $4,200 for high school students – to continue offering a comprehensive arts program. Although parents are asked to provide an annual parent giving contribution, it is completely voluntary, and CSArts-SGV is committed to admitting all youth eligible for enrollment without consideration of their family's ability to make a donation.

Nearly 20 percent of the school's 1,000 talented students live below the national poverty level and approximately 40 percent are in need of some financial assistance to help with the costs of their arts training. In an effort to provide financial support to qualified students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, we created the Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program (ASSP). Every dollar donated to ASSP is an investment in the future of a gifted young student with limited resources. Please consider sponsoring one, or more, of these deserving student artists with a tax-deductible donation to the Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program.

Master Artist Series

An important instructional strategy at California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley is to bring master artists and industry leaders to share their gifts, career stories, and expertise with students through residencies, master classes, lectures, and performances. Our Master Artist Series supports high-profile visiting artists who create meaningful and often life-changing experiences for our student artists. For this series, CSArts-SGV has welcomed acclaimed artists including internationally recognized choreographer, instructor, and performer Saleemah Knight; film and television actor David Denman; classically trained voice actor John Michael Higgins; electro jazz-pop saxophonist Grace Kelly; animator/director for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Sony Imageworks Tony Bancroft; principal concertmaster of the LA Philharmonic Martin Chalifour; world-renowned architect and designer Frank Gehry; Grammy-winning composer and conductor Eric Whitacre; and Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Gustavo Dudamel.

Parent Giving Program

California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley is a tuition-free, donation-dependent public charter school. No student is offered or denied enrollment based upon financial capacity. However, each school year we must raise private funds to underwrite the arts conservatory programs, and we rely on parents and the community at large to help us reach this goal.

The Parent Giving Program was created to provide parents with an opportunity to contribute an annual donation to their child’s arts education. All parent funding contributions are voluntary, and directly support the curriculum, classes, faculty wages, and operating costs for each arts conservatory. All cash donations to the school are tax deductible. Additional details on our Parent Giving Program are presented to parents at yearly meetings.
