Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program

Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program

The school must raise more than $4 million each year to continue offering a comprehensive arts program. Although parents are asked to provide an annual parent funding contribution, it is completely voluntary, and CSArts-SGV is committed to admitting all youth eligible for enrollment without consideration of their family's ability to make a donation.

Approximately 21% of the school's 1,200 talented students live below the national poverty level and about 40% are in need of some financial assistance to help with underwriting costs associated with their arts conservatory training. The Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program (ASSP) was created to support CSArts-SGV students with a demonstrated financial need by funding the arts conservatory portion of their school day. ASSP helps to ensure students have access to the complete CSArts-SGV experience, including arts training, technology, and school supplies, regardless of their families’ capacity to give. Please consider sponsoring one or more of these deserving student artists with a tax-deductible donation.

Master Artist Series

Through the Master Artist Series, CSArts-SGV students have the privilege of studying with nationally renowned guest artists in a variety of master classes, workshops, and performance experiences. These leading industry professionals have a profound impact on the students’ education and often serve as their mentors and inspiration as they advance to higher education and a professional career in the arts. Guest artists and master teachers have included many esteemed professionals, including Roblox Vice President and Chief Design Officer Tagu Kato, Oscar Award-winning cinematographer Shana Hagan, contemporary artist, activist, and founder of OBEY Clothing Shepard Fairey, Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, world-renowned architect and designer Frank Gehry, classically trained voice actor John Michael Higgins, internationally acclaimed actor Zendaya, and many more.

Parent Giving Program

California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley is a donation-dependent public charter school. No student is offered or denied enrollment based upon financial capacity. However, each school year we must raise private funds to underwrite the arts conservatory programs, and we rely on parents and the community at large to help us reach this goal.

The Parent Giving Program was created to provide parents with an opportunity to contribute an annual donation to their child’s arts education. All parent funding contributions are voluntary, and directly support the curriculum, classes, faculty wages, and operating costs for each arts conservatory. All cash donations to the school are tax deductible. Additional details on our Parent Giving Program are presented to parents at yearly meetings.
