About the CSArts-SGV Board of Trustees

The California School of the Arts – San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) Board of Trustees is a dedicated group of community leaders, professionals, and advocates who share a deep commitment to the school’s mission of providing a creative, challenging, and nurturing environment for bright and talented students. Responsible for the governance of the school, the Board sets policy, provides strategic guidance, and exercises fiscal oversight to ensure the continued excellence and sustainability of CSArts-SGV’s award-winning arts and academic programs. Through their leadership and advocacy, the Board helps foster innovation, strengthen community partnerships, and expand opportunities for students to thrive both artistically and academically.

Genevieve Spinella is a dynamic and accomplished business professional, known for her passion for design and entrepreneurship. After studying merchandise marketing at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, she found her true calling within the family business, Duarte Tile & Stone, Inc., where she currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer.

Ms. Spinella is deeply committed to fostering the arts and education within her community. She has served on the CSArts-SGV Board of Trustees since April 2019. Appointed by DUSD, Ms. Spinella’s expertise and passion have contributed to enriching educational experiences for students and promoting the arts as a powerful tool for personal and intellectual growth. In addition to her role with CSArts-SGV, she actively engages in a variety of volunteer and philanthropic endeavors within the City of Duarte and is committed to its continued growth and well-being.

Francisco "Frank" Figueroa is a lifelong Duarte resident with more than four decades of service in education, community organization, and civic engagement. He has remained committed to strengthening the community through volunteer leadership and public service. Frank was first elected to the Duarte Unified School District (DUSD) Board of Education in 1995 and served for 18 years, helping guide educational initiatives and advocate for students and families.

He is an active member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Duarte. As a member of the CSArts-SGV Board of Trustees, Frank is committed to strengthening partnerships with DUSD, local organizations, and community leaders in support of student success. Professionally, Frank is the Corporate Account Manager for Avianca Airlines, responsible for developing strategic partnerships and supporting commercial growth throughout the western United States. His previous leadership roles include Key Account Manager at LATAM Airlines, Business Development Director at Exito Travel, and Sales Manager at United Airlines. Marcy Ulrich is a member of the CSArts-SGV Board of Trustees and Foundation Board of Directors. She has worked with multiple nonprofit organizations in executive board leadership positions over the past 20 years. She has devoted countless hours to the growth and success of CSArts-SGV, beginning the year the campus opened.

Ms. Ulrich’s background in business development and project management in the utility industry has allowed her extensive experience managing projects and people, developing strategic relationships, fundraising, improving operational efficiencies, and in strategic planning and development. She currently owns and operates a small consulting business specializing in organizing family and small-business financial practices and financial literacy. She holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Hayward and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Marcy lives in Pasadena with her husband, Marc, and her two children, Quinlan (CW, ‘23), who currently attends University of California, Santa Cruz, and Griffin, who currently attends University of Utah.

Dr. Mark Power Robison currently serves as Vice Dean of the USC Rossier School of Education, where he oversees academic and administrative operations for one of the nation's leading schools of education. He is also the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Academic Leadership Associates, an international consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and institutional effectiveness for academic organizations.

Dr. Robison and his family have been active members of the CSArts-SGV community since their daughter, Leah Robison (PM, ‘28), joined the school two years ago. As President's Circle and Encore members, he and his wife, Elizabeth, have become deeply engaged with CSArts-SGV and share a genuine appreciation for its mission and culture. A lifelong supporter of the arts, Dr. Robison has a background in music and visual arts and remains an active musician today. He is honored to bring his expertise in academia, passion for arts education, and love of CSArts-SGV to the Board of Trustees to help the school continue to grow and thrive.

Daniel Volonte

Daniel Volonte is a lighting designer, scenic designer, and art director who has designed more than 750 theatre, television, and concert productions. As Vice President of Design at Gothic Moon Productions, he oversaw the design of scenic elements for Tiger Jam for the TGR Foundation and scenic elements for both the Walt Disney Corporation and Kodak Theatre.

As a technician for the entertainment industry, he has worked with Patrick Stewart, Bob Hope, Tim Burton, James Cameron, Pink Floyd, KISS, and more. Mr. Volonte currently serves as the Head of Tech and Design for the Emerging Theatre Technologies program at Citrus College and developed this program for students to receive in-depth training on high-end lighting, sound, and video equipment. Mr. Volonte has conducted master classes and worked with CSArts-SGV students in a variety of capacities. He is excited to continue to foster a relationship between CSArts-SGV and Citrus College as a newly appointed member of the CSArts-SGV Board of Trustees.
