Mr. Kirk Averitt is a conductor, vocalist, and music educator who seeks to inspire the next generation of music makers. Before moving to Southern California, Mr. Averitt served as Director of Choral Music at Beaver Country Day School and Music Director at The Congregational Church of Weston in Boston, MA. An active singer in the Los Angeles area, Mr. Averitt performs with C3LA, Choral Arts Initiative, Quartz Ensemble, The Resonance Collective, and Voices of Christmas.

Vocal music has afforded Mr. Averitt the opportunity to travel around the world and establish relationships with international musicians. In 2019, his choirs were invited to spend a week in residency at Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana, Cuba. He has performed professionally as a singer and conductor across the United States and Europe. Inspired by his passion for learning new languages and music styles, Mr. Averitt formed Viatores Mundi, an international vocal ensemble composed of professional singers from nine different countries. He received a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a bachelor's degree in Vocal Music Education from Lipscomb University.

Tyler McGeough

Mr. Tyler McGeough has been an active professional musician and educator in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas since 2010. Well versed in jazz, classical, and popular styles, his career as a performing and recording artist has led him to perform with some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles. Performance credits include the 2019 Earth’s Call Festival Orchestra at the Benedict Music Tent in Aspen, The Afro Peruvian Jazz Orchestra, The Red Light Brass Band, The Southern California Brass Consortium, The Marlon Martinez Jazz Orchestra, The OC Supertones, international pop artist Ebi, and countless other local artists.

As an educator, Mr. McGeough has taught music in nearly every capacity, across a broad range of ages, ability levels, and styles. He has dedicated his career in education to helping young musicians realize their musical identity and potential. He has directed and developed multiple elementary school band programs, been an Assistant Band Director at several local middle and high schools and taught private lessons extensively throughout Southern California. Many of his students have gone on to prestigious music schools such as The Berklee School of Music, USC Thornton School of Music, and The University of North Texas. In 2017, Mr. McGeough began work at CSArts-SGV and founded the school's jazz ensemble and jazz combos while teaching courses in improvisation and music business. In 2019 he was chosen to be a part of the CSArts-SGV inaugural Leadership Class, which prepares selected candidates to be the organization's future leaders. During his time at CSArts-SGV, he has contributed significantly to laying the foundation for the Winds and Jazz Studies program.

Mr. McGeough holds a master's degree in jazz studies and a bachelor’s degree in classical performance from The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. He has studied both jazz and classical trombone privately with Joey Sellers, Mike Hoffman, Bob McChesney, and Steve Trapani.
